Montreal mob boss Vito Rizzuto won’t take the witness stand at the Charbonneau Commission into construction corruption until January at the earliest. Does he refuse to testify and get hit with contempt? Other options don’t seem too promising. He’s got an active passport but if he leaves the country, what’s left of his empire will dissolve. He has too much pride for that. If he testifies, he loses respect and makes himself vulnerable. Safe bet his lawyer is feeling a tad stressed right now.
