Big bust against Ottawa Angel

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

The biggest, and definitely one of the smartest Hells Angels in Canada is Paul (Sasquatch) Porter of Ottawa. He’s also a survivor of several bids against his life and attempts by police to put him behind bars. He’s going to be facing another test in the courts soon.

Christmas classic!

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Due to the overwhelming response to the Bob Dylan “Here Comes Santa Claus” video, here’s another holiday classic. The biker connection? I’m still working on that.

Must Be Santa

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

It’s three weeks until Christmas and a good time to post this chestnut by Bob Dylan. The biker connection? Bob Dylan played at Sturgis in the summer of 2010.

Forest City muscle flexing

Monday, November 21st, 2011

The London chapter of the Hells Angels is one of the better organized ones in the province and hosted a get-together of some 100 bikers this weekend. There’s no chance the Bandidos will be back on the map in the Forest City in this century, but the Outlaws are growing in strength. It looked like the Outlaws were falling off the map a couple of years ago, but they’ve been quietly moving up again. There’s no love lost between Hells Angels and Outlaws in Ontario. Much of the tension comes from the 1977 defection of several Satan’s Choice chapters in Canada to the Outlaws. Remaining Satan’s Choice considered their club to have been the victim of connivers who abandoned their brothers. Now, some of those old Satan’s Choice are Hells Angels and the grudges run deep.

No Christmas curfew for Hells charged in cop beating

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Be good for goodness sake! Two Quebec Hells Angels charged with beating up a police officer in Mexico while on holidays can stay up as late as Santa while on bail awaiting trial.

Will Angels say Phuket to Thai expansion?

Monday, November 14th, 2011

The Hells Angels reported expansion into Thailand apparently isn’t going so well. Apparently, the Australian Hells Angels, Bandidos and Finks all have warmed to the possibilities of setting up shop in Thailand. One can only wonder at the patch possibilities for a chapter based in Phuket. And yes, this place does exist.

Biker sues over hurt feelings

Sunday, November 13th, 2011

Sticks and stones (and chains and brass knuckles and baseball bats) will break my bones, but words really hurt me. An Australian Bandido is suing over a book that suggests he’s not gentlemanly. The offensive book is called “Snouts in the Trough.” No word on if pigs are suing too. (I like the comment at the end of the article, in which a poster suggests: “Toughen up princess.”)

Attacks on Montreal lawyers unsolved

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Three Montreal lawyers have been physically attacked in the last year and two of them worked for the Hells Angels. This is something you don’t hear happening much outside Montreal, where the murders of Sydney Leithman in 1991 and Frank Shoofey in 1985 remain unsolved. Leithman and Shoofey both had underworld clients. Leithman was involved in a couple Colombian cocaine smuggling cases at the time someone put a bullet into him, while Shoofey was fighting with mobster Frank Cotroni, apparently trying to defend the interests of a Montreal boxer.

Winnipeg biker war hits city coffers

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Here’s an interesting twist on the Winnipeg biker wars. Police have been told to concentrate on feuding bikers and not spend time chasing illegal parkers. The result? The city has lost some $1.4 million.

Lawyer for Les Hells beaten

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

Montreal can be a tough city for lawyers with underworld clients. The murders of Frank Shoofey and Sydney Leithman remain unsolved. Now a lawyer who has represented Hells Angels is recovering from a beating outside his home in the tony Outremount district.
